Mixing just the right drink after a day on the trail will earn you rave reviews. This smoky, bourbon-based cocktail that relies on housemade lapsang tea syrup crafted with teadaytea’s naturally smoky loose leaf tea. A classic 80+ proof Bourbon, sets the stage ~ combined with a touch of lemon to achieve the perfect balance of acidic and sweet.
Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 ounces bourbon
- 1⁄2 ounce Kangaroo Lapsang tea syrup*
- 2 dashes Scrappy’s Black Lemon Bitters
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- Lemon peel for garnish
Preparation
Add all liquid ingredients into your favorite chilled short glassware or rocks glass.
Carefully add a large ice cube and stir with a chopstick or spoon. Twist lemon peel over the cocktail or drop it in the glass and enjoy.
*Lapsang Tea Syrup
To make the Kangaroo Lapsang Tea syrup, add 3 teaspoons of loose leaf Kangaroo Lapsang tea and 8 ounces sugar to 16 ounces water. Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir to dissolve sugar and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, remove from heat and let seep for 3 minutes. Strain the mixture and let it cool before bottling.
